Homecoming Chair Manny Molina meets student speaker Nathan R. Olivarez-Giles.

This year, our homecoming celebration will be on Saturday, November 3

Homecoming Chair: Manny Molina, president and CEO of Molina Media Group, founder of Latino Future magazine, Sociology alum, and supporter of the Journalism Department. Thank you to our sponsor, Bill Nugent, owner of The Shanty, and an SBS alum and advisory board member.

a. Homecoming fell on a beautiful fall day, perfect for hanging out in the patio at the Shanty.



b. Jim Patterson (Journalism, Class of ’77) visited the tent last year with his wife, Marni.



c. Dean Ed Donnerstein informed Bill Nugent, the owner of the Shanty and an SBS alumnus and board member, that a donation of $500 had been made to the William Owen Nugent Scholarship in psychology. Nugent has hosted our SBS event for the past six years.



d. Natasha Thomas Longanecker (Political Science, Class of 2002) and her husband, Daniel, have become regular attendees to the bash.



e. SBS Board Chair Alberto Moore with his son Corrado Moore.



f. Ron York (Geography and Regional Development/Psychology) with his daughter, Isabel, and his wife, Brianna.



g. Homecoming Chair Esther Capin received the Alumna of the Year Award from Ed Donnerstein.



h. Former Gov. Raúl Castro visited with student speaker Melissa Pitts. Pitts is one of the first recipients of the Raúl Castro Scholarship in the Center for Latin American Studies.



j. The history department held its annual book sale at a tent on the mall..



k. Margaret Nichols (Journalism/Political Science, Class of ’40) brought her granddaughter Bridget Geibel to the festivities.
